The restoration of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to production has created 1,657 permanent and temporary jobs, as well as about 6,500 indirect jobs in the downstream petroleum sector, the Managing Director of the company, Mr Edmond Kombat, has said.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series at the Presidency in Accra yesterday, Mr Kombat said the jobs were verifiable and had created opportunities for young people after years of inactivity at the refinery.
“When we did the count, TOR has created about 1,657 permanent and temporary jobs. These include 415 young engineers recruited into permanent positions, 301 temporary workers engaged for the CDU maintenance, 287 engaged for the RFCC maintenance and 654 employed by 35 local contractors working at the refinery currently,” he stated.
