Four persons died in a road crash at Esuehyia on the Winneba-Cape Coast highway last Sunday night.
The accident, which occurred at about 10:23 p.m., involved a Toyota Vitz with registration number GM 3758-26 and a DAF bus with registration number SGB 897XB.
The Toyota Vitz was travelling from Winneba towards Cape Coast, while the DAF bus, travelling in the opposite direction, was heading from Côte d’Ivoire to Nigeria.
Confirming the incident to the media, the Central Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), DoII Abdul Wasiu Hudu, said the Mankessim Fire Station received a distress call at about 10:30 p.m.
He said when personnel arrived at the scene, they found four persons, comprising one female and three males, trapped in the mangled Toyota Vitz.
According to him, the fire personnel extricated the victims from the wreckage, but they were pronounced dead by personnel of the National Ambulance Service who were at the scene.
DOII Hudu said the bodies were subsequently handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further action.
He added that six occupants of the DAF bus sustained minor injuries in the accident.
