Bortianor Nii Kwei Arku Family gets new family head

Sixty-two-year-old businessman in Accra, Nii Ofolikwei III, has been installed as the new head of family for the Nii Kwei Arku Family of Bortianor in the Greater Accra Region.

Nii Ofolikwei, also known in private life as Joseph Anum Akuetteh Quarcoo, assumes the role following the passing of the former family head, Nii Ofolikwei II, known in private life as Emmanuel Aryee Quarcoo, a few months ago.

Led by Numo Wulomo Lakote Aduawushi Shitse, the installation ceremony, which took place at the family house in Bortianor on Wednesday, November 5, was marked by traditional rites and customs in accordance with Ga tradition.

Addressing the media after the ceremony, Head of the Gbese Clan in Bortianor, Nii Okai, affirmed that Nii Ofolikwei III is the only recognised and legitimate head of the Nii Kwei Arku Family. He urged all family members and residents to extend to him the needed respect and cooperation to enable him to execute his duties effectively.

Mr Samuel Nii Lankai Quarcoo, grandson of Nii Kwei Arku I and the one who nominated the new head, called on the family to rally behind Nii Ofolikwei III to promote unity and stability. He cautioned individuals falsely claiming membership of the family and misusing the family’s name to desist from such conduct.

In his acceptance speech, Nii Ofolikwei III expressed gratitude to the elders, chiefs, and family members for the confidence reposed in him.

“I am deeply humbled by the trust and honour bestowed upon me. I pledge to work with all family members to promote peace, unity, and progress within the family and the wider Bortianor community,” he said.

The colourful ceremony attracted traditional leaders, elders, and residents of Bortianor who gathered to witness the formal installation of the new family head.
