Chief Fire officer leads personnel to douse blaze at Flour Mills Ghana

The Chief Fire Officer (CFO), Daniella Mawuci Ntow-Sapong, joined the Tema Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service to battle a fire outbreak that swept through the third up to the 10th floor of the production unit of Flour Mills Ghana Limited in Tema on Wednesday.
With the deployment of additional three fine engines, CFO Ntow-Sarpong and her team successfully doused the fire at about 12:39 pm at FMGL, formerly known as GAFCO (Ghana Agro Food Company), Ghana’s largest supplier of feed to poultry farms across the country.
There was no casualty recorded except for one worker who suffered smoke inhalation and quickly rushed to the GPHA Clinic where he was reported to be out of danger and in stable condition.
The fire according to the GNFS, severely damaged armoured cables, some electrical panels, and parts of the production machinery while other production equipment, flour warehouse and offices were successfully salvaged by the swift intervention of fire fighters who were joined by their CFO.
CFO Ntow-Sarpong briefing the journalists at the scene, commended the staff of the company for their timely manner in alerting emergency services and used the occasion to cautioned the public to be very vigilant at all times and report fire outbreaks at their early stages.
“Kudos to the gallant firefighters and partner agencies,
such as the GPHA Fire and Safety Department for their relentless efforts and professionalism in containing the blaze,” she commended.
Other officers at the scene were the Tema Regional Fire Officer; Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO II) Patrict Sallah, Greater Accra Regional Fire Officer; ACFOI Nissau and Deputy Director Operations at GNFS Headquarters in Accra, ACFOII Osmon Annum.
An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
