Electrician remanded over alleged GH¢26,000 fraudulent breach of trust
An electrician, Abdul Ganiw Adam, has been remanded into prison custody by an Accra Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding a man of GH¢26,000 under fraudulent breach of trust.
Adam pleaded not guilty to the charge and is scheduled to reappear before the court on October 16, 2026.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Francis Tassan told the court that the accused and the complainant, Yaw Senjina, hailed from Banda in the Volta Region.
He said in December 2024, Senjina told Abdul Rauf Adam, the accused’s brother, that he wanted to purchase a Mercedes-Benz bus.
Chief Inspector Tassan said Rauf subsequently introduced Senjina to his brother, Ganiw, who lived in Accra.
The prosecutor told the court that Senjina subsequently met Ganiw and deposited GH¢10,000 into his bank account, with plans to transfer the balance to the accused.
The court heard that in April 2025, Senjina brought an additional GH¢16,000, but the accused suggested that he purchase a tractor instead of the Mercedes-Benz bus, a proposal the complainant agreed to.
Chief Inspector Tassan said Senjina left the money with the accused and returned to his village.
He said when Senjina returned to Accra in June 2025, he demanded a refund of his money, but the accused allegedly failed to pay him.
The prosecutor said Senjina subsequently lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the arrest of Ganiw.
Chief Inspector Tassan told the court that the accused admitted the offence in his caution statement and subsequently refunded GH¢13,500 to the complainant.
