EP Church to continue collaboration with govt …Moderator elect assures

The Moderator of the General Assembly Elect of the Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Church Ghana, Revernd Professor Fred Mawusi Amevenku, has said that the EP Church had resolved to continue strengthening partnership with the government to bring the needed development to the people.
Reverend Professor Amevenku stated that the church over the years had supported governments in the development of the country in the areas of education, health, provision of potable water, and social interventions during disaster, among others.
Speaking to journalists at a thanksgiving service to end the 12th General Assembly in Ho on Sunday, the Moderator Elect disclosed that the EP Church had started an evangelism programme, which put the youth at the centre of affairs to make them more active and productive.
Reverend Professor Amevenku said the EP Church was intensifying efforts in skills training among the youth to acquire income generating skills and create wealth for themselves and reduce youth unemployment in the country.
He stressed that the church was also mindful of the negative effects of activities social media had on youth development, and that conscious efforts were being made by the Church to create the needed awareness among the youth to use social media productively for evangelism and business promotion among others.
Rev. Professor Amevenku noted that his vision was not different from that of the great commission of Christ, emphasising on propagating the gospel, and called for support from pastors, leaders, and the entire membership of the EP Church to support him to continue building a strong church to save more souls.
He explained that it was crucial for Christians to lead lives that were worthy of emulation, saying the EP Church did not only provide the spiritual needs of members but also provided the physical needs of people during disaster and provided potable water for people among others over years.
The Outgoing Moderator of the General Assembly, Right Reverend Lieutenant Colonel Bliss Kofi Agbeko, urged pastors, leaders and members of the church to offer the Moderator Elect the support he enjoyed from them over the past six years to enable him to deliver on his mandate to ensure growth.
He stressed the need for Christians to demonstrate virtues such as submissiveness, love, and respect for authority , saying it was unfortunate that some Ghanaians took the law into their hands and called for change of attitude particularly among Christians for others to emulate them.
