KAIPTC graduates urged to lead with integrity

The Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), Air Vice Marshal David Anetey Akrong, has challenged graduates to uphold integrity and ethical leadership.

According to him, many of Africa’s peace and security challenges were rooted in failures of accountable leadership.

He made the call at the Centre’s 15th Graduation Ceremony for its Joint Master’s Programmes in Accra on Friday.

The ceremony was held under the theme: ‘Between Intention, In-Action, and Impact: The Double-Edged Nature of State Posturing.’

Air Vice Marshal Akrong urged the graduates to remain professional and demonstrate integrity in every role they take up.

He said Africa needs leaders who were accountable and committed to promoting peace and security.

The Guest of Honour, Justice Professor Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to use the knowledge and skills they had gained to make a positive impact.

She urged them to become ambassadors of peace through innovative thinking and ethical leadership.

Prof. Mensah Bonsu called on the graduates to promote dialogue instead of violence, strengthen institutions and encourage cooperation at all levels.

She stressed that the graduates should develop practical solutions to emerging security challenges to help build safer and more resilient societies.

Mr Desmond Ofosu Hene was named the Best Graduating Student in the Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security programme.

Mrs Yvonne Ofosua Yirenkyi received the award for Best Graduating Student in the Executive Master of Arts in Conflict, Peace and Security programme.

Ms Elsie Adwoa Adutwumwaa Boateng emerged as the Best Graduating Student in the Master of Arts in Gender, Peace and Security programme. She was also named the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026.
