Kevin Taylor faces GH¢20m defamation suit

Ghanaian medical entrepreneur, Dr William Anar Sarpong, has led a GH¢20 million defamation lawsuit against US-based journalist, Kevin Taylor, and his media outlet, Loud Silence Media.

The legal action follows allegations made by Taylor during a Facebook Live broadcast on his platform, Loud Silence Media, between February 26 and 28, 2025.

The lawsuit, led at the High Court in Accra, alleged that Taylor made “false and damaging” statements about Dr Anar in a series of online broadcasts.

According to court documents, the accusations included claims of fraudulent activities and improper dealings with the Ghanaian government.

Dr Anar, who owns Spintex Medical Centre, has strongly denied the allegations.

His legal team, Gomdah & Associates, described Taylor’s remarks as “malicious fabrications intended to tarnish Dr Anar’s reputation.”

The lawsuit also stated that Taylor exposed Dr Anar’s family members by publicly displaying their images and personal details.

The court has ordered Kelvin Taylor and Loud Silence Media to respond to the writ within eight days or risk a default judgment.

The case highlights ongoing tensions between high-profile Ghanaian figures and digital media personalities, with concerns over the impact of unverified online commentary.

Neither Kevin Taylor nor his representatives had responded publicly to the lawsuit. —GNA
