Man remanded for destroying effigies of Big Six
The man, who allegedly vandalised the effigies of the Big Six, has been remanded by the Kwabenya Circuit Court, in Accra.
Newwel Gavu, however, has been referred to Psychiatric Hospital for examination, the GNA was told.
Gavu is expected to reappear on September 10, 2024.
The police arrested Gavu for allegedly vandalising the monuments at the Airport roundabout, in Accra.
The Ghana Police Service commended members of the public and the Airport Security for their vigilance, which led to the arrest of Gavu.
The Big Six, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Joseph Boakye (‘J.B.’) Danquah, Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey, Ebenezer Ako-Adjei, William Ofori Atta, and Edward Akufo-Addo, played a significant role in Ghana’s independence struggle. —GNA
