Muslim youth organisations confer with Chief Imam
The Office of the National Chief Imam of Ghana (ONCI) last Saturday hosted representatives of Ghanaian Muslim youth organisations at New Fadama in Accra.
The youth organisations used the opportunity to brainstorm and discuss challenges that confronted their communities in Ghana.
Among other things, the Muslim youth discussed capacity building, transformational leadership, job opportunities, financial literacy and business management.
Welcoming them, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu said the youth played an important role in the development of every society.
A well organised society, he said, was the one in which the youth created jobs for themselves and for others.
Sheikh Dr Sharubutu who is a staunch advocate of secular education urged the groups made up of men and women with diverse academic qualifications and entrepreneurial skills, to continue to support the welfare of Muslims.
While commending them for undertaking a project to empower themselves and others, the Muslim leader entreated the youth groups to be agents of peace.
He prayed to God (Allah) to grant them wisdom, knowledge and foresight in order to be successful.
In his remarks, Alhaji Khuzaima M. Osman, Personal Assistant to the National Chief Imam asked other Muslim organisations to join the next meeting at the residence of Sheikh Dr Sharubutu.
Alhaji Osman who is also the Director of Interfaith Programmes, advised them to eschew divisive tendencies, bitterness and acrimony.
He said the the Muslim youth organisations could achieve their vision when they are united and members embraced all shades of opinions.
The National Chief Imam, described by many as a peacemaker, philanthropist, and a loving father had always encouraged young people to be agents of development.
