‘Nabia’ undertakes health walk in Accra

Old students of Navrongo Senior High School (NAVASCO), Greater Accra and Tema branch, on Saturday hit the streets of Accra for a health walk to keep fit and strengthen bonds.

The old student known as ‘Nabia’ converged on the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) frontage and began their walk through the Kanda Highway through ‘Kawokudi’ to 37 Military Hospital, Jubilee House and back to GBC, covering at least five kilometres.

Prior to the event, the branch president, Ibrahim Tanko- Amidu, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of STAR- Ghana Foundation, encouraged membership to “reconnect, re-energise and plan for 2025.”

He noted that on the old students WhatsApp platform that the exercise was, “team building, stress reliever and good for the health of members,” adding that, it offered opportunity for class, school mates to meet and reminisce.

The old NAVASCANS in collaboration with the school authorities will hold the annual general meeting and speech and prize giving day in Navrongo, Upper East Region, from October 31 to November 2.

The Navrongo Secondary School (NAVASCO), now Navrongo Senior High School was established in 1960 by Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, originally known as The President’s College.

The school is identified by its logo of a horn, symbolising bravery, courage and leadership underpinned by the Latin phrase “LUX BOREALIS” meaning the “The light of the North.”

From a humble beginning in rural Northern Ghana, NAVASCO has lived up to the ideals of the founding father, and has grown in stature producing prominent personnel contributing to national and global development
