Obrempong Kru Takyi, the Paramount Chief of Abease in the Pru District of the newly created Bono East Region, has appealed to the government for infrastructural development to enhance the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.
He expressed worry about the inability of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to develop the area though it had been the party’s stronghold, however, successive NDC governments had neglected the people in terms of development.
“I am appealing to President Nana Akufo-Addo to remember Abease and its surrounding communities in the distribution of the national cake and bring development to the people,” Obrempong Takyi stressed.
President Akufo-Addo was in the area as part of his four-day working visit to the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions.
Obrempong Takyi lamented that apart from the Community Day Senior High School project it benefited under the previous government, the Abease community did not benefit from any development project from the NDC government.
He bemoaned the deplorable state of the Abease-Prang road and the worsened water problem in the area needed the attention of the government.
Responding, President Akufo-Addo indicated that he appreciated the concerns of the community and called on the people to support his government to better lives of the citizenry saying, “My government is determined to bring local government to the door-step of the citizenry to deepen democratic governance.
“Techiman as an ancient town deserves the regional capital and the chiefs and the people should support the development of the new region to accelerate socio-economic development, I commend the Traditional Council for releasing land for the construction of the Bono East Regional administration, I urge you to support and promote good working relations with the staff of the Regional Coordinating Council,” President Akufo-Addo stressed.
Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw II, the Paramount Chief of Techiman, advised the people in the area to vote for the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 elections as the best appreciation and honour they could give to the president for creating the Bono East Region with the capital town at Techiman.
He called on Bonos and Ahafos to support the leadership of the new Regional Coordinating Council to facilitate the rapid development of the region. -GNA
