Stakeholders in the health sector have called on the government to post health professionals to where their services are needed at the health facilities across the country.
According to them, posting was not a choice, but rather where the services of the health professionals were needed.
They made the statement here in Tamale on Monday at a workshop on tracking government commitments in the health sector
The workshop was organised by STAR-Ghana Foundation, under the Inclusive Elections and Accountable Governance in Ghana Project (Phase III) of the Gender Rights and Empowerment Project (G-REP), with funding from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including civil society organisations, health sector practitioners, advocacy groups, and the media.
This was to foster evidence-based advocacy and policy dialogue with the goal of improving healthcare service delivery and also ensure accountability,
A Participant, Dr Yaa Nyarko Adjeso, from the Directorate of Community Relations and Outreach Programme of the University for Development Studies, called for effective monitoring of government policies on health at the local community to ensure quality health delivery.
The Executive Director of STAR-Ghana Foundation, Alhaji Ibrahim Amidu Tanko, said economic crises and extreme partisanship required a neutral evidence-base assessment on government spending and its policy implementation
The Portfolio Manager Right to Social Services at STAR-Ghana Foundation, Mr Raymond Danso, noted that they were committed to supporting the government in delivering a quality health to the citizenry.
He said the workshop was to educate the stakeholders to identify some critical areas for collaboration with the government in order to enhance the health sector.
