Producer Price Inflation  drops to 24.4 % in March – GSS

 The  country’s Producer Price Inflation (PPI) year-on-year fell to 24.4 per cent in March from 27.6 per cent in February, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has announced.

On month-on-month, the producer price inflation between February 2025 and March 2025 stood at 0.6 per cent, from 1.5 per cent in February, 2025.

Data provided by the GSS said industry drove the March PPI.

The Producer Price Inflation for industry fell to 36.3 per cent in March 2025 from 42.9 per cent in February.

On month-on-month, the in­dustry PPI stood at 0.7 per cent in March.

For the construction sector, the data said the PPI rate fell to 15.4 per cent in March 2025 from 15.8 in February 2025 and on month-on-month the PPI rate stood at 0.1 per cent.

The services sector recorded PPI rate of 7.2 per cent in March 2025 from 7.8 per cent in February 2025 and month-on-month the PPI for services stood at 0.2 per cent.

The GSS said mining and quar­rying recorded PPI rate of 35.4 per cent, manufacturing at 22.8 per cent, water supply, sewerage and waste management (4.8 per cent) and electricity and gas at (5.1 per cent).

The data indicated that under construction, specialised construc­tion activities recorded PPI rates of 17.9 per cent, civil engineering at 15.7 per cent above the nation­al average of 15.4 per cent and construction of building recorded PPI rate of 14.3 per cent below the national average.

Under the services, the sub-sec­tors such as programming and broadcasting activities (26.3 per cent), accommodation (23.1 per cent), air transport (22.1 per cent), and land transportation (21.7 per cent) recorded inflation rate above the national average of 7.2 per cent.

However, the sub-sectors under services such as publishing activities (6.1 per cent), computer programming, consultancy and re­lated activities (2.2 per cent), infor­mation and service activities (1.2 per cent), motion picture, video and television production (0.7 per cent) and communication (0.0 per cent) recorded PPI rates below the national average of 7.2 per cent.
