Team Strongman Foundation organises festive season community outreach in Accra

THE Team Strongman Foundation has organised a series of activities during the Christmas festive season to support the less privileged and promote community bonding across parts of Accra.

The three-day event was opened on Wednesday with music, dance and storytelling sessions, drawing residents of Korle Gonno and its surrounding communities together in a lively and engaging atmosphere.

This was followed on Thursday by Christmas jams, which provided entertainment for the community, particularly children and young people.

On Friday, the Foundation organised a charity walk during which food and clothing were distributed to over 1,000 less privileged persons living on the streets.

Again, a walk commenced at Korle Gonno Okpotsu Park and passed through Accra High Street, Bishop, Tema Station, Mokola Rawlings Park, Mokola White Chapel, Timba Market and the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital before returning to Korle Gonno Okpotsu Park.

The activities concluded on Saturday with fun games, adding a recreational dimension to the outreach while further engaging children and young people within the communities.

Speaking in an interview with The Ghanaian Times at the event, the Founder of the Foundation, Mr Stephen Nii Afotey Odai, said the initiative was organised to give back to society and support vulnerable people during the festive season.

“Beyond the donations and activities, our aim is to inspire hope, strengthen community spirit and encourage people to look out for one another even after the festive season is over,” he stated.

Mr Afotey said the outreach is an annual initiative and noted that this year marked the third edition. He underlined that the Foundation hopes to build on the impact of the programme by expanding its support to more communities in the future.

Furthermore, Mr Afotey expressed gratitude to individuals, volunteers and partners who have supported the Foundation over the years, saying their consistent encouragement and contributions have made the initiative possible.

“I am grateful to everyone who has stood by me and supported the Foundation throughout the years. Their commitment and belief in our vision continue to drive us to do more for society,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, a member of Team Strongman Foundation, Ms Stephanie Birikorang, indicated that the outreach was a fulfilling experience for volunteers, as it allowed them to directly interact with and support vulnerable people.

“Being part of this programme reminds us that small acts of kindness can make a big difference in people’s lives. Seeing the smiles and appreciation from those we reached out to is what motivates us to continue,” she stated.

Ms Birikorang added that the Foundation remains committed to sustaining the initiative and encouraged more individuals to support its activities in order to reach more people in need.

Team Strongman Foundation is a community-based organisation focused on social intervention, youth engagement and support for the underprivileged.
