We’ll Ensure Seamless Recruitment Process … Interior Minister Assures

The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has announced that the application portal for recruitment into the Police, Prisons, Fire, and Immigration Services will open today for individuals interested in joining any of the various security services.

He stated that the age limit for regular recruits has been increased to 30 years, while those with artisan backgrounds have been increased to 35, stressing that safety measures have been outlined to ensure a smooth selection process and to avert incidents like the El-Wak tragedy.

Speaking at a press conference last Friday in Accra, Mr. Mubarak said there would be multiple screening centres in every region, with between 10 and 15 centres in Accra, to prevent overcrowding and ensure a speedy process.

“No screening centre will accommodate more than 1,000 people at a time, with a target of 500 persons in the morning and another 500 in the afternoon. Any applicant who shows up in the morning when scheduled for the afternoon will be instantly disqualified. The screening exercise will be done in turns. The Police Service will complete its screening before another agency starts its process, ensuring no congestion,” he explained.

He assured that the application process would be seamless and online, utilising a robust and secure platform designed to efficiently handle a large volume of applications. Mr. Mubarak noted that the online portal is user-friendly and easy to navigate, allowing applicants to apply from the comfort of their homes, and stressed that it would be accessible on multiple devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers.

He added that the system would automatically allocate applicants to screening centres and emphasised that the recruitment process would be free and fair. “The system will select qualified candidates based on merit, and it is not true that selections have already been made, as some have claimed. The recruitment is not for sale. Anyone attempting to sell slots will be arrested, and we urge the public to report such individuals to the authorities,” he said.

Mr. Mubarak encouraged all eligible Ghanaians to take advantage of this opportunity and join the Internal Security Services, highlighting that the Service seeks talented, dedicated, and patriotic individuals committed to serving their country.

He noted that several phone numbers would be provided on the portal for assistance and added that a dedicated team would be available to provide support throughout the application process.
