4 Nigerians granted GH₵400,000 bail for alleged use of ‘wee’
An Accra Circuit Court has granted GH₵100,000 bail each to four Nigerians over an alleged use of narcotic drug without lawful authority.
The court ordered that three persons should stand as sureties for each of the accused, and two of the sureties each, should be justified.
Mentor Sey, 25, music artist, Emmanuel Nwosu, 45, seaman, Andy Thomas Osemene, 25, music artist, and Emmanuel Thomas, 15, student, accused, who have denied the charge, will re-appear on April 25, 2022.
Police Chief Inspector Benson Benneh, told the court that on March 30, 2022, the Teshie District Police Command had a tip-off from the Management of San Hotel off the Teshie Bush Road that, some Nigerians had lodged at the facility.
The court presided over by Mrs Evelyn Asamoah, heard that the Nigerians smoked substance suspected to be Indian hemp in their hotel rooms.
Chief Insp Benneh said the police from Teshie District Command arrested the accused at the hotel and a search in their hotel rooms disclosed wrapped dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp and burnt aluminum foils believed to have been used in consuming the narcotic drugs. – GNA
