$600m Prestige project to enhance Kotoka Intl Airport skyline launched

Prestige, a $600-million real estate property that seeks to transform the Accra skyline, is to be constructed at the Airport enclave.

The project, which would also help to beautify the skyline of the Airport City, would have facilities such as residential apartments, malls, shops, gym, and playing facilities for children.

The facility, being developed by i2 Developers Ghana Limited and other partners, would be completed within the next three years.

Speaking at the launch in Accra on Wednesday, the Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso- Boakye, expressed delight about the project.

He said not only would the project add to beautifying the skyline of Accra, but also help to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth.

Mr Asenso-Boakye said the project was a testament to the commitment of the government to create a conducive environment for the real estate industry to thrive in the country.

He said the project would help contribute to the housing stock and address the housing deficit estimated to be more than 1.5 million housing units.

The Minister said housing stood as a fundamental element of the country’s social and economic progress, saying projects “Such as this will play crucial role in building the social fabric”.

Mr Asenso-Boakye said the government would continue to create an enabling environment for the real estate industry to flourish.

The Co-Founder and Managing Director of i2 Development Ghana Limited, Youssef Airtour, said the project to be constructed on a 2.88 acres of land adjacent to the Airport Shell Fuel Station and directly opposite the Marina Mall was set to add to the beauty of the Airport skyline and redefine luxury living in Ghana’s capital and help play a key role in increasing the country’s tourism receipts.

He said the project was ideally located within Airport and would be an ideal location for businessmen and business meetings and leisure.

Mr Aitour said the facility would have a team park dubbed Wonderland and dedicated exclusively for children, and said Prestige would have residential apartments and pent houses and studious.

“Placing plush residential properties and hotels near airports provides convenient and easy access for travellers. This accessibility allows tourists, business travellers, and aviation professionals to conveniently stay close to the airport, saving time and reducing travel-related stress. This proximity encourages more visitors to explore Ghana as they can easily reach their accommodation upon arrival,” he stated.

Mr Aitour said the project was in line with the redevelopment of the Airport enclave into a first-class business hub.

The Chairman and Founder of i2 Development Ghana Limited, Nabil Al-Ahmad, said his outfit chose Ghana due to its political and democratic stability as well as peace in the country, adding that Ghana was one of the stable and strong economies in Africa.

Mr Ah-Ahmad said i2 Development Ghana Limited was focused on quality and that would set the company apart from other real estate projects in the country.

The Managing Director of Micheleti, Mr Ernest Taricone, described the project as a “Landmark project” which was going to add to the skyline of the Airport area.

He said the facility would have ranges to suit the needs of all the segments of the real estate market in the country.
