Angry Fomena NPP members fix Mahama picture in party office
Some aggrieved members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Fomena constituency have demonstrated against the leadership of the party.
They demonstrated against the decision of the party not to hold polling station election in the constituency.
Yesterday, the aggrieved members were seen changing the traditional colours of party posted inthe NPP office which is red, white, and blue with red, white, green, and black – the traditional colours of their political rival, National Democratic Congress.
Earlier the aggrieved youth of the NPP vowed to reject any move to allegedly impose the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Andrews Asiamah on them.
The youth had also questioned the rationale behind the exemption of the constituency in the polling station executive elections.
Addressing the media last Wednesday in Fomena, Micheal Ankapong, aspiring youth organiser said: “we will resist any attempt by NPP executives to impose the independent candidate together with his supporters on the faithful NPP supporters within the constituency.”
The youth had alleged, the leadership of the party met the independent candidate. “Some executives have met with the Independent candidate for Fomena constituency, MrAssiamah to bring on board his supporters to contest on party internal elections,” he said.
But the National Communication Director of the party, Yaw Buaben Asamoa declined to provide reasons for the exclusion of the Fomena constituency in the polling station elections.
“We did not give reason before and we would not give any reason now, this is a purely internal affair,” he stated. -3TV
