The Member of Parliament (MP) for Asutifi South constituency in the Ahafo Region, Alhaji Collins Dauda, last Friday registered a total of 2,400 residents of the area onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The exercise was part of plans by the MP to register 5,000 residents across the constituency by the end of 2023, as a means of safeguarding the health needs of the people.

Speaking in an address read for him by his Special Assistant, Alhassan Mohammed at the registration center at Wuramumuso on Friday, the Asutifi South MP said it was his topmost priority to ensure that health care was easily accessible and affordable to the constituents in order to ensure the socio-economic growth of the area.

The MP appealed to residents of the country to rally behind the NHIA to sustain the gains of the scheme and to continue its objective of saving lives.

Alhaji Dauda implored citizens of Ahafo Region home and abroad, individuals, institutions and other stakeholders to contribute their widow’s mite to the health needs of residents saying that “together we can build.”

He thanked his constituents for reposing trust in him to serve for many years and promised to continuously facilitate massive development to the area, adding that Asutifi South would be great and strong in 2023.

The Asutifi District Manager of the NHIS, Joseph Sarkodie, in his remarks, hailed the efforts of Alhaji Collins Dauda for promoting the activities of the NHIA in the Asutifi enclave and beyond.

Mr Sarkodie said the exercise which was conducted in phases and zones, was successful in Nkrankrom, Wuramumuso and other areas adding that every part of the constituency would be covered.

He emphasised that the NHIS was a social intervention programme introduced by the government to provide financial access to quality health care for all residents and those on a visit to the country.

The District Manager entreated residents to take advantage of the digital platform to renew their NHIS membership by dialing *929# from any telephony network with a mobile money wallet.

Nana Kwame Kumah, the Abusuapanin of Wuramumuso, on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to Alhaji Collins Dauda for his usual kindness to the constituency stressing that “we will always honour him.”
