De Lorenzo donates items to MoE to fight COVID-19

The Ministry of Education yesterday received quantities of items in support of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic from De Lorenzo, Italy, manufacturers of technical and education equipment.

The items valued at €90,000 included; 12,000 face masks and 800 pieces of 250ml hand sanitisers.

Presenting the items, the Country Representative of the company, Mr Andrew Kufuor, said the company had had a twelve-year presence in Ghana and had been working with the Ministry of Education for some time.

He explained that Italy had endured the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic and that De Lorenzo recognised the importance of these items in the fight, hence the donation.

Receiving the items, the Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, thanked the company for their social responsibility gesture.

He stated that De Lorenzo had been one of the reliable partners of the ministry through its technical and vocational education support and expressed the ministry’s gratitude for their working partnership.

Dr Prempeh subsequently handed the items over to the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa for onward distribution to its frontline workers.
