Delap joins Forest in club-record deal

Nottingham Forest have splashed a club record reported fee of £45 million ($61 million) to sign out-of-favour Chelsea striker Liam Delap.

The 23-year-old has penned a five-year contract at the City Ground after failing to make the grade in one season at Chelsea.

Forest were in the market for a goalscorer after failing to find the net in two defeats to Leeds in the Premier League and League Cup to begin their season under new boss Oliver Glasner in disappointing fashion.

Delap joined Chelsea for £30 million last year after a breakout season at Ipswich, when he scored 12 Premier League goals in the 2024/25 campaign.

But he struggled to make an impact under three different managers at Stamford Bridge last season, scoring only twice in all competitions.

Delap could make his debut on Saturday when Forest visit Liverpool at Anfield.-AFP
