Elmina Sharks, WAFA, Eleven Wonders begin DOL campaign today
Relegated Ghana Premier League (GPL) sides Elmina Sharks, Eleven Wonders and WAFA will launch their campaigns for an outright return to the elite competition when the Division One League (DOL) kicks off today.
But they would have to brush aside stern challenges from 48 clubs that harbour similar intentions of gaining promotion to play at the elite stage in the 2023/24 football season.
Others like Bofoakwa Tano, Dwarfs, Liberty Professionals, Tema Youth, Berekum Chelsea, Brong Ahafo United, Heart of Lions and New Edubiase have all failed to see similar bids come to fruition since their relegation.
That makes the agenda of the trio a tricky one but having kept a number of their players from the Premiership, they can be considered among the favourites to emerge victorious in their respective groups.
Sadly, others have seen their players move on for bigger challenges and would need to rebuild to put on a decent challenge.
In Zone 1, Tano Bofoakwa will host Baffour Soccer Academy in the Brong derby at the Sunyani Coronation Park today.
At the Aliu Mahama Stadium, Steadfast will welcome WA Suntaa same day.
