Ex-President Mahama donates 1,000 cement bags to E.P Church in Ho

 The flag bearer of the Na­tional Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has redeemed his pledge of 1,000 bags of cement to the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, towards the construction of a con­ference centre at the church in Ho.

He made the pledge to the Church during her 175 years anniversary celebration some 24 months ago in Ho.

The Member of Parliament of Adaklu, Mr Kwame Agbodza, presenting the cement on behalf of Mr Mahama praised the church for her contribution towards the development of the country.

“The church’s contribution in the fields of education, health, cultural and economic develop­ment could not be glossed over,” he stated.

Mr Agbodza, who is the Minori­ty Chief Whip in Parliament asked the church to continue praying for the nation for peace before, during and after the general election in December, this year. He also asked the Church to pray for the Nation­al Democratic Congress to enable it to assume the governance of the country to reset it.

He assured that the NDC would continue to collaborate with all stakeholders to build a better Gha­na and resilient economy.

He assured that “we will not disappoint Ghanaians if they re­pose their confidence in us.”

Right Rev. Dr Lt Col (rtd) Bliss Divine Agbeko, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church, receiving the gift on behalf of the church praised the former Presi­dent for his generosity.

He noted that all the relevant papers for the project have been acquired for its takeoff saying, “the contractor will move to site soon.”

The moderator stated that the project would not only serve as a conference centre but also a youth resource centre.

He said the church would continue to help the youth acquire employable skills to add value to themselves and become responsi­ble citizens in future.

Rt Rev Dr Lt Col Agbeko reminded the former President to work to “right the wrongs in soci­ety” if he comes back to power.”

Present at the ceremony were Rev. Dr Lawson Dzanku, Clerk of the General Assembly of the Church, Mr Henry Ametefe, for­mer Regional Chairman, Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Secretary and other Regional and Ho Central constituency executives of the NDC.
