Former President Mahama eulogises late Ga Manye

 Former President John Dramani Mahama has eulogised the late Ga Manye (Queen of the Ga State), Naa Dede Omaedru III, describing her as a unifier whose legacy must be celebrated.

The former President who was at the Ga Traditional Council to sign the book of condolence for the Ga Manye who passed on in February, said she was a re­spected Queen who contributed massively to the peace and unity within the Ga State.

“She was revered among the Ga people and the country at large, hence must be celebrated by all,” he mentioned.

“I am here to pay my condolences and join hands with the Ga State to mourn the Queen who was admired by many,” he added.

“It is important to celebrate the life that she lived and ensure that her legacy lives on for many to look up to. Ghana today needs people like that to maintain unity despite economic challenges. We are here to extend our condolences and hope others would follow and do same,” he stressed.

He presented drinks, cloth and an undisclosed amount of money to the funeral committee and pledged to support subsequently to hold a befitting funeral for the late Queen scheduled for October.

He was accompanied by former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah and other dignitar­ies and party bigwigs.

The Ga Mantse and the President of the Ga Traditional Council, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, thanked the former Pres­ident for commiserating with them and paying respect to the late Queen.

“This is a sign of the love and respect he has for the Ga State. We thank him and urge him to continue with the relationship with the Ga people,” he stated.

He said unity remains a priority to the people and urged him assist the people maintain harmony and peaceful coexis­tence.
