HYM provides Asikabew community potable water
The Hannah Yawson Ministry (HYM) has commissioned a new mechanised borehole for the people of Asikabew, a small community near Nsawam Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.
The timely intervention of HYM has brought clean and safe water to the community, as for many years they depended on a stagnant and polluted pool as their only source of water.
The new mechanised borehole, funded and constructed by HYM, would serve both the Asikabew community and pupils of the local school who had long suffered from waterborne diseases due to unsafe drinking water.
The intervention follows years of hardship that had affected the health and dignity of residents.
In 2022, a newly posted teacher, Mr Samuel Otabil, discovered that many of his pupils were battling skin and stomach infections. Further inquiry revealed that the contaminated pool used by the community was the cause.
Although the headmaster occasionally provided sachet water for students, it proved an unsustainable solution.
His concerns, later amplified by media reports, caught the attention of HYM, which responded swiftly to provide a lasting solution.
At a ceremony to commission the borehole last Tuesday, the President of HYM, Rev. Hannah Aba Yawson, reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities.
“Water is life, and every community deserves this basic necessity. Our mission is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of people, restore dignity, and remind them that they are deeply loved by God,” she said.
The Chief of Asikabew, Nana Opare Adu, expressed profound gratitude to HYM, describing the project as a “legacy of hope” that would serve future generations.
The provision of clean water in Asikabew offers renewed hope, improved health, and a testament to HYM’s dedication to compassion-driven development and community transformation.
