Inactive parties must be taken off political parties roll – Lecturer
A senior lecturer at the
Department of Political Science, University of Education, Winneba, Dr Braimah
Awaisu, has stated that it is wrong to keep parties that are inactive on the
roll of political parties in the country.
He said political parties and institutions must
be seen to be active and any entity not working, has seized to function.
Speaking on ‘Behind the News’ on GBC’s Uniiq FM,
Dr Awaisu said different political parties enrich the country’s multiparty
system, but they must comply with rules and regulations governing the system.
He said however if any party flouts the rule, it
should be taken off the system.
Meanwhile, some of the parties have refuted
claims that they have disobeyed the EC’s rules and regulations. They claim
their parties are active and operational.
