Isis Yaa Boatema crowned best camper at 2024 Girls Governance Camp in Accra
Isis Yaa Boatema, a 16-year-old former student of Mfantsiman Senior High School, emerged as the Best Camper at the 2024 Girls Governance Camp held at the Achimota Girls Guide Training Center in Accra.
She was recognised among over 100 young girls selected from communities in the Ga North Municipality and other parts of Accra.
The camp, themed “My Role as a Citizen and a Voter,” was organised by the Leading Ladies Network (LLN) to enhance the civic knowledge of school-aged girls.
Miss Boatema’s exceptional intelligence, leadership skills, and commitment during the programme distinguished her among her peers, a feat she described as a proud milestone in her journey.
The three-day camp featured a series of interactive sessions and workshops led by accomplished guests aimed at inspiring and shaping the participants’ understanding of their roles as active citizens and future leaders.
The sessions covered areas such as civic responsibilities, leadership, public speaking, and decision-making.
Founder of LLN, Ms Yawa Hansen-Quao commended Miss Boatema for her dedication and urged her to continue striving for excellence.
“Keep soaring and working towards your dreams with perseverance and dedication; no dream is too big to achieve,” she said.
Ms Hansen-Quao also praised all the participants for their resilience and reminded them of the transformative power of education.
“You must not let your backgrounds intimidate you; success is possible even from a disadvantaged start,” she noted, encouraging the girls to focus on their studies, avoid bad influences, and remain committed to their goals.
In addition to the workshops, the camp was enriched by the presence of facilitators and guest speakers who led practical activities and discussions designed to equip the girls with knowledge and confidence for future endeavors.
Miss Boatema’s achievement serves as an example to other young girls aspiring to make meaningful contributions to their communities and society at large.
Leadership of the LLN expressed gratitude to all facilitators and guest speakers for making the 2024 camp a success and promised even more enriching and impactful future editions aimed at nurturing a new generation of informed and empowered young female leaders.
