Kane Signs New Bayern Contract

England captain and Ballon d’Or winner Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Bayern Munich that runs until 2029.

The 33-year-old striker was in the final 12 months of the four-year deal he signed after his £86 million move from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

He scored a club-record 61 goals in 51 games last season as Bayern completed a league and cup double.

Kane’s new contract secures his future at Bayern until shortly before his 36th birthday and ensures he will remain with the club through Euro 2028 and until within a year of the 2030 World Cup.

The Leytonstone-born forward remains 47 goals short of equalling Alan Shearer’s Premier League record of 260 goals. Extending his deal in Germany reduces his chances of returning to England to break that record.

By signing Kane to a new deal, Bayern have warded off potential approaches from Barcelona, which had maintained a long-standing interest in the striker. Clubs in Saudi Arabia had also been linked with the centre-forward.

Kane scored 73 goals in 65 matches for England and Bayern in the 2025-26 season and was crowned the world’s best male player at the Ballon d’Or ceremony last month.

He has scored 102 goals in 102 Bundesliga matches, winning three successive Golden Boot awards and two league titles.

Kane is the first Bundesliga player to win the Ballon d’Or since 1996.

This season, he has scored 12 goals for Bayern, taking his tally to 156 in 161 games.

Kane is England’s record goalscorer and in September equalled Peter Shilton’s record of 125 England caps.
