Lotto and Lotteries pays GH¢2m licence fees to NLA

Lotto and Lotteries Company Limited, a business entity owned by Kumasi-based business man, Dr Frank AwuahAdjei, has paid GH¢2 million to the National Lottery Authority (NLA) as license fees for the operation of lotteries under Act 722 and Act 844.

The amount involves GH¢1.5 million as the required license fee for the operation of lotto under Act 722 and GH¢500, 000 as the total license fee for operating lotto under Act 844.

The initiative to issue license to private lotto operators was started by the previous Board of NLA under the leadership of Togbe Francis Seth Nyonyo as Board Chair and Kofi Osei-Ameyaw as the Director-General.

The decision is part of a five-year partnership agreement between Veterans Administration, Ghana (VAG) and the National Lottery Authority (NLA) to generate revenue from the Banker-to-Banker Lotto Operators and their agents to support national development.

Lotto and Lotteries Company Limited, which is headquartered in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, is the biggest private sector lotto operator with several agents and writers across the country.

Dr Adjei told the Ghanaian Times that his company and its agents would continue to support the government, and the Board and Management of NLA to generate revenue for national development.

He expressed gratitude to the current Board and Management of NLA for giving private sector lotto operators the opportunity to also contribute to job creation and wealth in the country.

The Kumasi-based businessman urged lotto operators across the country to support Togbe Nyonyo, the Board Chair and Mr Samuel Awuku, the current Director-General of NLA, to generate revenue for national development.
