NCC urges Hearts fans to be calm
The Chairman of the National Chapters Committee (NCC) of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr Elvis Herman Hesse Jr., has asked the club’s supporters to remain calm as leadership engages the club’s board in augmenting the technical team of the club.
Hearts is currently without a substantive Head Coach since the sacking of Dutch trainer, Martin Koopman, last month; a situation the fans appear to be unhappy with.
The NCC says it has been inundated with calls and messages to impress upon the board to appoint a substantive Head Coach.
Addressing a press conference at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, Mr Herman Hesse Jr. said the NCC leadership was in constant communication with the club’s board to find a worthy replacement for Koopman.
“We feel the pain of the supporters; however, we want to appeal to them to give us a bit of time. We have made mistakes in the appointment of coaches in the past, and going forward, we believe we would do due diligence before picking a new Head Coach.
We don’t want to bring a coach who would be sacked in three months’ time. We’ll effectively collaborate with the board and management to ensure that the technical team is beefed up entirely.”
Hearts have not won a game in their last four outings, losing three and drawing one.
“Such results are not synonymous with Hearts, and we really feel for the supporters. We are working tirelessly with the board to put smiles back on the faces of the supporters.”
He revealed that the leadership had written to the board, suggesting coaches the supporters want but the onus lies on the Board to go through and pick the best for the club.
The NCC chairman urged the supporters to close ranks, come together as one body, and fight for the ultimate goal of seeing the club flourish in the league.
“We are not sleeping; the NCC cannot always use one tactic all the time. For many who are calling for demonstrations, we want to let them know that the NCC cannot always use the same tactics to get our demands met.”
He called on the fans who have resorted to insulting the board chairman, Togbe Afede XIV, on social media to desist from those acts.
He noted the NCC was happy that the club has officially written to the Ghana Football Association to protest against the conduct of the match officials for Sunday’s game in which Hearts lost 2-3 to the Porcupine Warriors.
