The National Democratic Congress’ Professionals Forum (Proforum) on Monday launched its ‘door-to-door’ campaign to execute the electioneering agenda.
The NDC group also made a donation of GH¢2 million to the office of the flagbearer to support his campaign toward the December 7, polls.
It further donated 17 television sets to aid the communication of the flagbearer’s campaign and announced the erection of 50 billboards nationwide to support the campaign.
Making the presentation to the flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, in Accra on Monday, the Global President of Proforum, Sam Pee Yalley, said they were ready to be deployed as polling agents and other electoral support services personnel on election day.
He said apart from selling the good message of the NDC to the electorates, their campaign would focus on how to reduce spoilt ballots.
Ambassador Yalley said a careful study of the trend reveals that spoilt ballots occur largely in the NDC’s strongholds which must be a concern to all.
According to Sam Pee Yalley, their decision to back the Mahama-Opoku-Agyemang ticket was borne out of their conviction that the duo are the capable hands to return the country back on the path of progress and restore confidence in its democracy.
He called on Ghanaians to join the NDC train to kick the Akufo- Addo-Bawumia government out of power for a more competent leadership.
Receiving the items, the flagbearer expressed his appreciation for the gesture and welcomed their readiness to be deployed on election day.
He said the dynamics of elections have changed and that persons who were willing to be polling agents should avail themselves to be trained for the task ahead.
All hands, the former president said, would be needed to make the victory of the NDC a reality and persons who have not registered to be part of the special voting should communicate same to the leadership to be stationed at their polling stations to perform their respective duties.
He reiterated his call on party faithful to sacrifice their sleep after the election until the declaration of results to avoid a replay of incidents in 2020 where some coalition centres were left unattended to.
Mr Mahama said it should all not be about the victory of the party at the polls but meeting the expectation of the electorate and how to deliver on the mandate given.
“The (victory) is about the expectation of the people and how we’ll deliver on our manifesto and our 120-day programme we put out there for the benefit of Ghanaians,” he stated.
He said the Proforum must not die with the election but morph into a think-tank that would keep the government in check to ensure it does not stray.
“You must continue to exist and when the administration is going the wrong way, you’ll be able to (look us in the face) and say this is not what we promised,” Mr Mahama stressed.
