NPP unfazed about NDC vigilantism dialogue demands

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has stated that the party is not bothering to involve civil society organisations, other stakeholders including the United Nations (UN) and the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) in the discussion on ending vigilantism as proposed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

However, he noted that it was imperative that both parties come to a perfect understanding at the preparatory stage before involving other stakeholders in the discussion to bring finality to vigilantism.

“Notwithstanding any of the things we are going to do, it will be necessary that we understand each other and not UN and ECOWAS getting involved but if their presence in the meeting will make the NDC feel comfortable, we don’t really bother much about it.

“It does not matter the specific law which may come out to end vigilantism, what really matters is that there is peace in the country, it is in our interest as a party to ensure that there is peace, our only gain is to see peace prevail in the country and the NPP will still continue to engage the NDC, we are even prepared to use fiat to invite them so we can move forward,” Mr Boadu assured. –peacefmonline.com
