SDA summit ends with renewed call for bold evangelism

The West-Central Africa Division Ministerial Summit and Leadership Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has ended at Babcock University in Nigeria, with a renewed call for faithful leadership, disciple-making and the proclamation of the everlasting gospel.

The week-long conference, which ended on Monday, brought together more than 4,000 leaders, delegates and representatives, including participants from the South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM) of the SDA Church.

Addressing the gathering, the President of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Erton C. Köhler, in his first major appearance since assuming office, challenged ministers and their spouses to remain committed to the church’s core mission.

He urged them to proclaim the everlasting gospel faithfully and prepare the world for Christ’s soon return, stressing the need for boldness, faith and unwavering commitment in sharing God’s end-time message.

Speaking on the theme: ‘Called to Be Bold,’ Pastor Köhler based his message on Revelation 14:6–12, highlighting the urgency of proclaiming the everlasting gospel and the Three Angels’ Messages to a world searching for hope, truth and salvation.

He stated that the mission entrusted to God’s church was too urgent for fear, compromise or complacency.

Pastor Köhler further encouraged delegates, administrators, ministers and their spouses to remain faithful to Scripture, stand firmly for biblical truth and continually point people to Jesus Christ as the only hope for humanity.

He also underscored the importance of the partnership between pastors and their spouses in advancing the church’s mission, noting that strong pastoral families served as powerful witnesses for Christ and helped to strengthen local congregations.

The West-Central Africa Division of the SDA Church comprises 22 countries. Participants at the conference expressed renewed dedication to bold evangelism, faithful spiritual leadership and complete dependence on the Holy Spirit as they continue to prepare people for the soon return of Jesus Christ.

The summit, hosted at Babcock University, brought together church leaders from across the division for worship, spiritual renewal, leadership development and ministry training.

It reaffirmed the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s commitment to proclaiming the everlasting gospel and fulfilling its mission to every nation, tribe, language and people.

As part of the programme Pastor Köhler alongside General Conference executives, Division leaders and representatives of the South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM) launched an initiative to climax the event

Among the Ghanaian delegation were Pastor Col. (Rtd) Peter Kwabena Nyarko Duodu, President of the South East Ghana Union Mission (SEGUM), Tema; Pastor Adeefe Kwakye Yaw, President of the South West Ghana Union Conference (SWGUC), Osu, Accra; Pastor Jonathan Owusu, President of the Mid-Ghana Union Conference (MGUC), Kumasi; and Pastor Dr Edward Nyarko, President of the North-Central Ghana Union Mission (NCGUM), Techiman.
