SDA Women’s Ministry donates items to hospital in Koforidua
The Women Ministry Department of the Seventh-day Adventist(SDA) Church in the Effiduase District in the Eastern Region last Saturday donated medical supplies and assorted fruits worth GH¢10,000 to the S.D.A Hospital in Koforidua.
The items included 100 boxes of nose mask, 10 gallons of 45 litre liquid soap, 80 packs of toilet rolls, 35 bags of Kleesoft and Madar washing powder, 70 copies of evangelistic books.
Others include 10 gallons of hand sanitiser, 30 boxes of hand gloves and assorted fruits.
The District Women Ministry Leader, Mrs Gladys Koompson, a retired Senior Nursing Officer in the hospital, presented the items on behalf of her ministry.
She said the purpose of the donation was to complement the one day prayer by the women’s wing in the church from the general conference with the theme: “I Will Go”.
“God who is our creator cared for everyone including the vulnerable and the sick,” she said, adding that, the ministry would continue to emulate the traits of the creator and put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable.
The Director of the SDA Hospital in Koforidua, Ps. Dr Daniel Faakye, received the items on behalf of the management of the hospital.
He expressed gratitude to the church for its kind gestures and promised to use the items for the intended purpose.
Dr Faakye noted that the hospital needed an ambulance and X-ray machine in order to provide quality health care.
According to him, the hospital had to rely on the National Ambulance and also refer cases which involved the use of X-ray machines and added that it delayed health procedures and causes inconveniences to the patients.
DrFaakye called on other corporate bodies and philanthropists to raise funds to expand the hospital to enhance service delivery.
The Pastor of New Life SDA Church, Pastor Afari-Dadzie, commended the women for their generosity and called on other corporate bodies to emulate the gesture of the women.
