Galaxy International school visits Save Them Young Orphanage

Pupils and Teachers of Galaxy International School last week embarked on a charity orphanage trip to Save Them Young Orphanage Home at Tema Gulf City in Accra.

They donated assorted items including cooking oil, soft drinks, toilet rolls, washing powder, pencils, rulers and an amount of GH¢600 to the orphanage.

The trip was in relation to one of the numerous “Circle Time Topics” taught in the school which teaches pupils values and good morals in society.

A statement issued by the school said the trip was also to give the pupils the exposure and understanding of the need to share with the less privileged in society and also to help the pupils appreciate what they have.

To achieve this, the Charity Committee of the school involved all the pupils as well as their Parents.

“To generate funds for the trip, Pupils of the Primary Sections made their own ‘Personal and Classroom Piggy Banks’ and on daily basis, they saved small amounts of monies from their daily pocket monies to support the trip,” the statement said.

A Mini-Market was also set up in the school with parents supporting the initiative with food items of their choice. Cakes, toffees, chocolate, fruits, fruit juices, cupcakes, pop-corns and stationery among several others were sold by the pupils under the supervision of their teachers to generate funds to support the trip.

The pupils dined and danced with children of the orphanage after the donation.
