5 die after vehicle plunges into River Owabi

 Five people died when the vehicle they were travel­ling on plunged into River Owabi, between Akropong and Dabaa, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The accident occurred early Tuesday on the Akropong-Dabaa road, where the driver was said to have lost control of the vehicle and plunged into the river.

The deceased have been identified as a 41-year-old teacher, Rita Agyare, Helena, 40-year-old seamstress, Boamah Gyasi Eric, 20, plumber, 10-year-old student, Lordina Yasan, and her sister, Doreen Yasan, 5.

A police source confirmed the incident, saying the bodies have  been conveyed to the Mount Sinai morgue for preservation. Accord­ing to the source, investigation into the accident has started

The eyewitness said the vehi­cle that was travelling from Dabaa to Akropong veered off the main road, overturned and crashed into the river
