ACESD trains female students in ICT

The African Canadian Centre for Employment and Skills Development (ACESD) has trained 10 female students on Information Communication and Technology (ICT) from some selected Senior High School (SHS) in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

The three-day training workshop was to deepen the knowledge of the students in digital literacy, computer skills, coding and website development, online research and cyber security.

It was organised by the ACESD with the funding from friends of the organisation.

At a closing ceremony here in Tamale on Sunday, the Programme Coordinator of ACESD, Mrs Sumaya Sulemana, said they were committed to equipping young girls with the tools they needed to succeed in today’s evolving digital world.

Mrs Sulemana indicated that bridging the digital divide for young girls was a key to unlocking their academic and professional potential, saying “In an era where technology is shaping industries and transforming education, digital literacy is no longer a luxury—it is a necessity.

Again, she stated that over the three days, participants were engaged in practical exercises, learning how to use productivity tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as how to leverage the internet for research and career development and professional emailing

She said the knowledge they acquired at the training would not only enhance their academic performance but also empower them to stay relevant in today’s digital world and explore future career

Moreover, Mrs Sulemana noted that they would remain dedicated to empowering young girls through education and skills development, pointing out that the organization will continue to provide access to digital literacy training in order to ensure that no girls were left behind in the digital revolution.

Miss Zulfaw Amadu, a beneficiary of the training, thanked the organisation for organising the free ICT training for them, assuring that they would put everything they learnt to a higher level in their academic pursuit.
