Arsenal overturn two-goal deficit to reach semi-finals

Arsenal progressed to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League after beating Real Madrid 3-0 at the Emirates.

The Gunners lost the first leg 2-0, but overturned the deficit with three goals during a stunning second-half display in north London.

Renee Slegers’ side lacked a cutting edge during the opening 45 minutes, but Alessia Russo came out of the blocks firing after the break.

She converted Chloe Kelly’s cross in the 46th minute to give her side the lead.

Kelly’s lethal deliveries set up Mariona Caldentey for Arsenal’s second just three minutes later as the hosts turned the tie on its head.

Russo capped the remarkable comeback in the 59th minute, and the England international had two more goals disallowed for offside as she went on the hunt for her hat-trick.

Arsenal will now progress to the semi-finals of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the eighth time in their history, where they will face Lyon.-tntsports
