The Assembly Member for the MansoTakorase Electoral Area in the Amansie South District in the Ashanti Region, Dominic Bonsu, has donated a 15KV electricity power plant and GH¢20,000 to the Nkawie Senior High Technical School as part of efforts to address the persistent power challenges confronting the school.

The Assembly Member, who completed the school in 2011, described the gesture as a way of giving back to his alma mater in appreciation for the role the institution played in shaping his life and career.
Making the presentation at Nkawie on Friday, Mr Bonsu said educational development should not be left to government alone, stressing that old students, philanthropists, and stakeholders must also contribute their quota towards improving conditions in schools across the country.
He assured the school management that he will also pay for repair and maintenance cost anytime the plant developed a fault.
The Assembly member made a further pledge of dual desks to help address the inadequate furniture situation in the school to create a conducive environment for academic work.
Over the years, he has supported health facilities, educational institutions, market women, the aged, brilliant but needy students, and several community-based projects.
He also disclosed that he has donated to mosques, supported the construction of street footbridges, and undertaken other social intervention initiatives to improve the welfare of people in various communities.
The Assembly Member further revealed that he has on several occasions settled hospital bills for patients who could not afford to pay for their medical treatment and had been detained in hospitals because of unpaid bills.
According to him, supporting the vulnerable and bringing relief to struggling families remain among his key priorities as a leader and public servant.
The Headmistress of Nkawie SHS, Ms Faustina Sekyere, on her part, expressed profound gratitude to the Assemblyman for the kind gesture saying the power plant had come in time to address the frequent power challenges.
According to her, the unstable electricity supply has for years disrupted teaching and learning activities and also posed security threats to students, particularly during nighttime.
She recounted incidents where some students returning from vacation were attacked during blackout periods, stressing the urgent need for reliable electricity to improve safety and academic work on campus.
Ms Sekyere commended Hon. Dominic Bonsu for the timely intervention and described the donation as a major relief that would significantly enhance teaching, learning, and security in the school.
She further appealed to old students, benevolent individuals, philanthropists, and corporate organizations to emulate the gesture by supporting the school in addressing its pressing challenges for effective teaching and learning.
