Black Queens fall to Morocco in int’l friendly
Two goals from Tottenham Hotspur’s Ayane Rosella handed the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco a 2-0 win over the Black Queens of Ghana in an international friendly played at the FAR Sportive Stadium in Morocco on Tuesday.
Ayane’s goals were scored in the 48th and 75th minutes of the second-half, atoning for a wasteful first-half where they missed golden opportunities to sink the Black Queens early and even in late stages of the opening half.
The win was also a welcomed revenge for the Lionesses back-to-back 3-1 and 2-0 losses, respectively, to the Black Queens in Ghana in 2020.
The Ghanaians struggled for creativity and cohesion and only managed to runaway with a decent defeat due to the home side’s poor finishing.
Morrocans had the breakthrough with a pass from Nakkach Elodie and embarked on an explosive run past four Ghanaian defenders before slotting the low strike beyond Dumahesi.
Ayane increased the tally with a spectacular strike as Glizlane Chebbak slipped a pass to the unmarked Ayane to blast into the roof of the net.
The closest the Ghanaians came to scoring was in the fourth and 80th minutes but LadyStriker’s forward Suzzy Dede Teye failed to make them count.
