Pres Mahama to Grace 5th Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament

The fifth edition of the Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament has been scheduled for November 21 at the Achimota Golf Club in Accra, with President John Dramani Mahama expected to perform the official tee-off ceremony.
Sponsored by First National Bank, the event is expected to attract several high-profile personalities from the corporate and golfing communities.
This year’s edition will be held on the theme: “Driving National Growth through Leadership, Partnership and Golf.” It aims to strengthen the relationship between sport, business and national development by creating opportunities for networking, dialogue and strategic partnerships.
Addressing guests at the official launch on Wednesday, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr Francis Andoh, thanked the sponsors and partners whose support had sustained the tournament over the years.
He said more than 140 selected amateur golfers, including international participants from Nigeria, Burundi and Kenya, were expected to take part.
Mr Andoh explained that this year’s theme reflected the organisers’ belief in the ability of sport to unite people, build lasting relationships and inspire initiatives that contributed to national progress.
He said the organisers were committed to supporting community outreach programmes and creating opportunities for young people through golf.
The Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, George Yaw Amoah, expressed gratitude to the organising committee for continually selecting the club as the venue for the prestigious competition.
Also addressing the gathering, Mr Mike Aggrey, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Achimota Golf Club and General Secretary of the African Golf Confederation, traced the origins of the tournament to 2017.
First National Bank is the headline sponsor of the fifth edition, with BOST Energies supporting the event as Gold Sponsor.
Other sponsors and partners include Samsung Ghana, The Luckiest, Myla Homes, the National Petroleum Authority, Danny List Foundation, Aphro Ghana, Coca-Cola Ghana, Guinness Ghana, Pasonia, La Villa Aphro, Happy Box, TGTS, Ember Coco, Sunlodge, JD’s Fresh Juice, The Palms by Eagles, Gevans Natural Minerals Water and Nguvu Mining Limited.
Beyond the competition for honours on the golf course, the Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament aims to use sport as a platform for building relationships among government, business and society.
The anticipated presence of President Mahama is also expected to add significance to the occasion as organisers seek to reinforce the tournament’s central message of leadership, friendship, partnership and national growth.
