Don’t allow discussions on elections to derail fight against COVID-19 — Asiedu Nketia admonishes politicians

Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has posited that he will not comment on matters relating to the December 7 general election when the fight against COVID-19 in the country has not been won.
According to him, “being a good and responsible citizen, I’m strictly going by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s advice to the citizenry to rally together to win the battle against the deadly virus because the President is saying let’s unite to defeat COVID-19, after that victory we don’t stop thinking as a people and the elections can come off later.
“Commenting on the compilation of a new voters’ register and elections will divide us and we need to stay away from such issues, I want us to unite behind the president to fight the common enemy which is COVID-19.
“I have said that I will not discuss matters on whether there will be elections or not and whether a new voters register will be used during the elections or not at a time the country is still trying relentlessly to conquer the coronavirus (COVID-19), I have a problem with those who are discussing those things.
“They are not listening to the president’s advice unless the president didn’t intend his advice to be taken seriously by us, what the president has stated is that we know how to fix a broken down economy but not how to bring back life which tells you that we need to focus on life first and focus on being safe first.
“When we can’t tell when the coronavirus pandemic will be over and yet some politicians are thinking of compiling a new voters’ register, if by December 7 we are dead, who’s going to vote,” Mr Nketia quizzed. -kasapafmonline.com
