Dr Bryan Acheampong concludes nationwide tour …urges unity ahead of NPP primaries

Dr Bryan Acheampong, one of the contenders for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has concluded his nationwide campaign tour, urging party unity ahead of Saturday’s decisive primaries.
Addressing the media in Accra yesterday under the theme “Renewing the Spirit of the NPP: Grassroots, Unity and Victory Ahead in 2028,” Dr Acheampong said the tour had strengthened his resolve to lead the party with discipline, strategy and inclusiveness.
Having visited all 276 constituencies—twice in some cases—he said his leadership style was deliberate and grounded in direct engagement with grassroots supporters.
“I have listened, I have learned, and I have stood shoulder to shoulder with our people. This is how I lead,” he stated.
Dr Acheampong outlined what he described as a disciplined and strategic pathway to secure the constitutionally required 50-plus-one threshold in the primaries and reposition the NPP for victory in the 2028 general election.
Speaking on the impact of the tour, Ms Nueke Sefakor of Ashaiman said the candidate’s message appeared to be resonating strongly with delegates.
“His message seems to be resonating strongly with delegates who have been coming out in their numbers on his tour to hear him speak. Grassroots voices have been emphatic. He has the energy and resources to carry us through,” she said.
She added that the campaign was about more than just the primaries.
“This is not just about primaries. Bryan is preparing the NPP to win Ghana again,” she noted.
Dr Acheampong’s policy vision, she explained, focuses on job creation and youth employment through the expansion of industrial parks and digital hubs, alongside strengthening food security through irrigation, mechanisation, storage and agro-processing.
Other key proposals include the provision of affordable housing in every constituency, balanced regional development to drive prosperity, support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), stabilisation of the cedi, and the promotion of local manufacturing.
The aspirant warned that lingering divisions from previous primaries must be addressed if the party is to regain power.
“Two camps, one family, but still apart—can we march into 2028 like this? The answer is no,” he cautioned.
He called on delegates and party supporters to place unity above personal interests, stressing that cohesion remained the party’s strongest asset going into the 2028 elections.
