Flames of Hope Foundation unites breast cancer patients and survivors to inspire hope

SOME breast cancer patients and survivors from across the country have participated in a special engagement organised by the Flames of Hope Foundation to provide emotional support, share experiences and inspire hope among women battling the disease.
The meeting brought together breast cancer patients undergoing treatment and survivors who have successfully overcome the disease, creating a platform for open discussions on the challenges, fears and triumphs associated with diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

The participants were hosted by the Founder of the Foundation, Mrs Georgina Kumah-Dzagah, a breast cancer survivor and Executive Secretary of the Breast Society of Ghana (BSoG), who welcomed the women and encouraged them to remain hopeful despite the difficulties associated with the disease.
The survivors shared their personal experiences, highlighting the physical, emotional and psychological challenges they endured during treatment.
They also spoke about the long-term effects of the aggressive therapies that helped them overcome the disease.
Many participants expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that interactions with fellow survivors reassured them that they were not alone in their battle against cancer.
They appealed for similar engagements to be organised regularly to provide continuous support and encouragement for patients and survivors.
As part of the programme, the women received mastectomy bras, breast prostheses, swimming costumes and other souvenirs aimed at improving their quality of life and boosting their confidence.
Addressing the gathering, Mrs Kumah-Dzagah urged breast cancer survivors not to live in fear but to focus on maintaining healthy lifestyles while using their experiences to inspire and support others facing similar challenges.
She also encouraged patients undergoing treatment to adhere strictly to the advice of their healthcare professionals and remain optimistic about their recovery.
Mrs Kumah-Dzagah expressed gratitude to the participants for honouring the Foundation’s invitation and contributing to the success of the programme.
She further thanked the Leanne Pero Foundation for donating some gift items to support the programme, describing the contribution as a valuable gesture that brought encouragement and comfort to the beneficiaries.
