‘Giants Unplugged musical concert December 7
A musical concert dubbed: Giants Unplugged, has been launched in Accra to raise funds in support of the John Agyekum Kufour (JAK) Foundation, a non-governmental organisation founded by the former president.
Scheduled for December 7, 2019 to proceed the former president’s birthday, it would feature top Ghanaian artistes on a common platform to celebrate his legacy as they raise money to support his charity works.
Primeval Media, an events organisation is spearheading the entire show under the auspices of the Foundation with proceeds from the concert expected to go into the completion of an ultra-modern Kufuor Centre for Leadership and Governance at the University of Ghana and also support the Kufuor Scholars Programme (KSP).
At the star-studded launch in Accra last Wednesday, the former President said he was overwhelmed with joy and excitement with the coming on board of the concert which he believed, would go a long way to help shape great leaders of Ghana.
“I wish I had all the resources myself to do everything that the foundation is trying to do, but I tell you, because of the scale of the mission I find, I need support”, he stated at the launch.
According to the former President, Africa was abound in natural resources and ranked second to none but unfortunately, husbanding the resources was such a challenge and “if anybody had time to deliberate on why Ghana, and Africa as a whole, with all its natural resources did not seem to be able to show the development and progress we all clamour for.
I will tell you, when you look critically, you will see that the real challenge is leadership.”
He believed the support of the concert would help generate the needed funds to support his foundation which sought to groom and nurture the next generation to efficiently utilise the country’s resources for utmost benefit.
Keri Nkrumah Tinkering, Head of Events and Marketing of Primeval Media, in a remark noted that the company shared in the vision of theft President to transform the lives of young people to be of utmost importance to society.
“We are highly motivated by the fact that the Foundation is doing a lot to help the youth and for instance every year, about 30 students get scholarship from the Foundation and we want to associate with this legacy,” he said.
Mr Tinkering revealed that the maiden edition of “Giants Unplugged” will feature top brands like Nana Amped, Awake Deed, Shatta Wale, Kofi Kinaata, Efya, Bisa Kdei, Kwadwo Nkansah “Lilwin” among many others.
