Hearts seek redemption at Sogakope today

Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions, Accra Hearts of Oak will be out to make a huge statement when they square off with WAFA in their Week Two 2021/22 league fixture today at Sogakope.
The Phobians managed a point in their opening game of the season and would expect to make amends by securing the maximum points at the expense of a determined WAFA side.
Hearts would also be in the mood to overcome the ‘Sogakope voodoo’, having failed to find a win on the home grounds of WAFA.
Though Hearts had the better of WAFA last season with a 4-0 thrashing, the Academy Boys managed to beat an in-form Phobian side 1-0 in the second leg at Sogakope.
The 5-0 thumping in 2017 is also a blip in the memories of Hearts fans and officials anytime they set foot in WAFA territory.
Most importantly, both teams would go into the game desperate for three points after failing to impress in their opening games.
WAFA were handed a 1-0 defeat at King Faisal while Hearts drew 0-0 with Legon Cities.
Interestingly both teams exhibited good football and dominated their opponents but were left frustrated with the failure to find the back of the net.
WAFA would hope to have their new Spanish coach Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza at the sidelines to guide them to their first win of the season.
Despite WAFA’s dominance at home, Hearts may be too strong for them considering the threat posed by the Hearts frontline of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Isaac Mensah, Emmanuel Nettey and Ibrahim Salifu.
