Ho Teaching Hospital honours retired staff

THE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr Hintermann Mbroh, has commended the former CEO of the hospital, Dr John Tampouri, and the Director of Pharmacy, Dr John Korbuvi, for their contributions to the growth of the facility.

Dr Mbroh said the Ho Teaching Hospital went through remarkable transformation over the years from a regional hospital in 1999 into a tertiary referral hospital in 2019.

Speaking at a ceremony here on Friday to mark the retirement of the two leaders, Dr Mbroh said the two rendered distinguished services to Ghanaians, particularly the people of the Volta Region, where they laid a strong foundation for the hospital.

Dr Mbroh praised the former CEO, Dr Tampouri, for an improved standard and the promotion of professionalism among workers, which led to the development of the hospital from a Regional hospital to a Teaching hospital.

He said Dr Tampouri and Dr Korbuvi’s influence remained as the strength the hospital relied on, which guided the staff to be dedicated to work, and made the teaching hospital one of the best in the country.

Dr Mbroh said ‘‘even though the two leaders retired from active public service, their legacy will continue through those they brought up’’, he stressed.

The former CEO of the Ho Teaching Hospital, Dr Tampouri, said he had his best part of life in the past 30 years he had served humanity.

According to him, he worked in most of the regions of the country, and ended up in the Volta region, where he spent 13 years, and expressed appreciation to the management of the Ho Teaching Hospital for their resilience during his tenure.

He said the current management would face challenges trying to explore for further improvement of healthcare services in the region, and urged the management to take measures that would ensure that they achieve success.

The former Director of Pharmacy at the Teaching Hospital, Dr Korbuvi, advised the youth to work hard and sacrifice in their field of work, saying he started work at the Keta government hospital after national service without salary for months.

Dr Korbuvi therefore stressed the need for the youth and workers to demonstrate high levels of patriotism in serving the country, to ensure accelerated growth.

The Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Jerry Ameko, who is also the Dean of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in the Volta Region, represented the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, commended the two retired leaders for their dedicated services to the country and the Volta Region in particular.
