Light Foundation lauds Saudi efforts in Yemen peace process …calls for global support

The Light Foundation (TLF), an interfaith humanitarian organisation based in Ghana has sent its compliments to all peace related stakeholders in the Republic of Ghana.
This comes in line with the organisation’s celebration of the International Peace Day on September 21, 2023.
The foundation also made an urgent call towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 16 on global peace, justice, and strong institutions.
The Light Foundation made a particular reference to the political crisis in Yemen, which has so far led to one of the World’s worst humanitarian crises.
It also welcomed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to end the Yemeni conflict and reach a comprehensive and sustainable solution between the Yemeni parties under the supervision of the United Nations.
“Hosting discussions with the Houthi-led delegation in Riyadh expresses keenness of the Kingdom to encourage the Yemeni parties to sit at the dialogue table to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen and to move Yemen to comprehensive renaissance and sustainable development,” the foundation said.
The Light Foundation said it equally appreciated the important role the Sultanate of Oman was playing in coordinating and facilitating these peace efforts.
“The Light Foundation seizes this opportunity to call upon the Ghanaian government and the Ghana Peace Council to issue a statement endorsing the peace initiatives aimed at resolving the Yemeni crisis to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution between the Yemeni parties led by Saudi Arabia under the supervision of the United Nations.
We urgently call for peaceful and inclusive societies based on respect for human rights, protection of the most vulnerable, the rule of law and good governance at all levels.” the foundation said.
