Mouloudia Club crowned Algerian Super Cup winners
Mouloudia Club of Oujda were crowned as the Algerian Super Cup winners after beating neighbours, CR Belouizdad, at the Stade du 5 Juillet.
Mouloudia won the fourth Super Cup in its history, winning on penalties (4-3) after a 2-2 draw, at the end of a spectacular match at a packed stadium.
CR Belouizdad (two titles) missed the opportunity to catch up with its rival in the list of winners of this event.
The Mouloudia players started the game at an infernal pace, scoring two goals in the first half hour of play. Sofiane Bayazid opened the scoring in the 14th minute from the penalty spot.
Mouloudia captain, Ayoub Abdellaoui, scored the second goal in the 27th minute of the match, giving his team a two-goal lead at half-time.
The new coach of Belouizdad, Sead Ramovic, returned from the break with a completely transformed team that managed to come back from the two goals in the second half. Aymen Mahious reduced the score in the 72nd minute thanks to a penalty awarded by the referee after consulting the VAR.
The Algerian striker then scored twice and restored the balance in the 88th minute, thanks to a furious header that deceived the defence and the Mouloudia goalkeeper.
The fate of the match was decided on penalties, an event that smiled on Mouloudia, who won 4-3.
Mouloudia of Algiers won its second trophy of the 2024-25 season after winning the Algerian Championship.
They still have one last chance at the title, with the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, which they have not won since their only title in 1976. —CAFonline.com
